I just discovered your website, and as I indicated in my guest book sig, I have a story too. Until the time comes where I can have enough quiet time to collect my thoughts, I thought you might be interested in a poem I wrote when our daughter, Kellie, was honored at school. God Bless you and yours...
Peace,
Joanne

KELLIE KATHLEEN CONNOLLY

is a very special girl

Daddy and I were so surprised when we found out
The Doctor said, "Yes, there is no doubt…"
As her Mommy’s tummy grew bigger every day,
The time finally came and we were on our way!

We got to the hospital, it was almost midnight
Never in my life, did something feel so right!
14 hours later, and full of mirth…
We witnessed the amazing miracle of birth

What a beautiful baby, all would utter
Head of dark hair, skin soft as butter
A smile that could bring sunshine even when it rained
Our little Kellie, everyone’s new little best friend

A happy little girl, full of love
Everyday, we thanked God above
For eventually she learned to crawl, she walked and talked
but then something happened, our world would be rocked.

She wasn’t yet two, and one early Sunday morning
Tragedy struck, without any warning
The ambulance came and took her away
To the hospital for 26 days she would stay

No longer could she walk, talk or even cry
All we could do was wonder, "why?"
The doctor’s had no explanations
only adding to our endless frustrations.

It’s so hard to understand why Kellie had suffered a stroke
But we knew we couldn’t give up hope
We prayed and we prayed for her recovery
God gave us the strength to accept, He knew it wouldn’t be easy.

As the years have passed since that terrible time
Kellie tries so hard to run, jump and climb
Never knowing that she’s any different
From all the other kids, she calls her friends.

So please when you see Kellie, don’t laugh and tease
She tries and tries so hard to please
She may be just a little bit slower
And all are richer just to know her.
